A warm and tight-knit family in Brighton, NY, is seeking a proactive and energetic Family Assistant to join their after-school routine approximately 2-5 days per week! This role is perfect for someone who is flexible, reliable, and eager to lighten the family’s load while making after-school hours engaging and fun for the children. The family describes their children as lively and full of energy, and they’re looking for someone who is up for pizza nights, ice cream outings, bike rides, and spontaneous adventures like trampoline park visits and library trips. With their 2-year-old attending daycare until 5:00-5:30 PM each day, the primary focus will be on providing after-school care for the two older children while assisting with household tasks to ensure the family can spend quality time together in the evenings, rather than doing laundry and dishes!

Family Assistant responsibilities include assisting the older children with their chores and keeping them on task, as well as planning and engaging in fun, age-appropriate activities both indoors and outdoors. Additional duties include managing family laundry, tidying the kitchen, handling dishes, coordinating grocery orders, and assisting with meal preparation. The Family Assistant will also be responsible for assisting the big kids with walking the family’s small, friendly dog and maintaining a well-organized home environment. The family fosters a collaborative and team-oriented household, often joined by grandparents or other caregivers in the afternoons. Their 12-year-old is autistic and receives support from additional respite workers throughout the week. A caregiver who has prior experience working with neurodivergent children would be a wonderful addition.

The family is open to working with candidates who are looking for 2-5 afternoons per week, and looks forward to discussing a schedule that works well for everyone. Requirements:

2+ years of professional childcare experience

CPR/First aid certified

Safe and reliable vehicle

Willingness to make a long-term commitment to the family
